Birthday Party FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What area is best for a birthday party?
Do we need woods or a huge yard? We can make a map and create a hunt anywhere, but the backyard is the most commonly used party space. We like to be able to see kids at all times and discourage wooded paths that take them out of site. Areas can be too big, but never too small! We have mapped islands, museums, parking garages, restaurants……you name it, we can draw it.

2. How many people is the birthday party hunt appropriate for?
Most birthday parties average 15 kids. It does not matter to us how many are there as the effort to map and facilitate is the same no matter the numbers. If there are more than 25 or so, it will require an extra person and more supplies so the cost will go up.

3. How much does it cost?
Prices for birthday parties are determined solely on distance as we come twice: once to make a map and once to do the event. Prices range from 195.00 to 350.00 for REALLY long drives.

4. What is in the treasure chest?
The families provide the treasure. Typically, it is the goody bags, but as long as it is the same for everyone and easy to distribute, the kids are happy. We hand out our little take aways, too.

5. How long does it take?
Generally, an hour, though the game can be modified to finish for pizza deliveries! Young children have a shorter attention span and want to be finished in about 45 minutes. Their map is simpler and the area smaller. 13 year olds’ parties are often more complicated, in larger areas or parks, or done at night…..in the dark with reflective clues….that takes longer.

6. What age to you suggest for GPS treasure hunts?
13 years old seems to be the age when all that are playing are able to understand the directions and locating the caches.
